Our leaders
The church is currently led by a team of three elders, one of whom is also the pastor:
Mark Long
(pastor)
Mark moved to Dorset with his wife Jenny in 2021 after retiring from the Metropolitan Police in London where he served as a Detective. He became a Christian when he was 8 and has served as a Deacon for Outreach in his previous church in Twickenham. Mark was called to be our Pastor in June 2026. He has 4 children and 7 grandchildren and enjoys walking, swimming, football and climbing mountains!
Bob Dawson
(elder)
Bob moved to Verwood with his wife Sue to be nearer family and grandchildren. He has been a Christian for 60 years and for almost four decades has been involved in UK and international student ministry in London, Vienna, Central Europe, and most recently in Bournemouth. He joined the chapel in 2024 and became an elder in 2026. Bob enjoys birdwatching, swimming, gardening and reading in his spare time, and of course his two grandchildren.
Jeremy Stambaugh
(elder)
Jeremy became a Christian whilst studying engineering at university. He moved to Dorset from Oxfordshire with his wife Nathalie in 2021. He worked as a sustainable energy consultant in London and Oxfordshire for 27 years and now works part-time as a home delivery driver for a local supermarket. He joined VREC in 2022 and joined the leadership team as an elder in 2024. He enjoys cycling and walking in the local area.
